4 Things I Wish I Knew About Prom

We would all go back to our Prom night if we could, whether it was to change something that happened or if we just wanted to re-live it.

For those who are yet to experience a ‘Prom night’ – you’re in for an exciting ride. You’ll have thoughts cross your mind that you’d never think you would like ‘Is $100 a reasonable price for someone to do my makeup for Prom?’ (it isn’t btw), ‘Why can I never find a cute dress when I actually need to find a cute dress?!’ and the notorious ‘Where should I get a fake tan?’, ‘When should I get the fake tan?’ and ‘Should I actually fake tan????’

CHERISH THE MOMENT
These are some of the best times that you’ll experience in high school. You’ll be looking back in 10 or 20 years and you’ll want to be able to say “Wasn’t Prom just the best time ever?” Events like these only come around once and they’re made for your enjoyment, so have some fun with your main bae’s!
SHOP ONLINE WITH CAUTION
Let’s be real here. Online shopping is the bomb. It’s available to you 24/7 and when it arrives at your doorstep, it’s like getting a gift from yourself – what’s not to love? But before you hit the checkout, it’s important to know what you’re buying, where you’re buying from and who you’re buying from because the last thing you want is to be scammed right before something as important as Prom!
DANCE LIKE NO ONE IS WATCHING
Leave all the shame behind and let loose! Like I said, Prom isn’t going to come around again, so make the most of your time especially on the dance floor – a place where it’s as if barriers are broken down and everyone is friends with everyone. Grab your entourage and get down!
COMPLIMENT EACH OTHER
Don’t see Prom as a competition, but see it as one big party. Memories will be made at Prom, so to get the good vibes flowing, be sure to compliment as many guys and gals as possible. You never know how much you’ll be making their night just that little bit better.

Fashion Highlights: Met Gala 2015

Don’t we all love these events where the guest list is second to none?

It’s Met Gala time and we can’t help but to have a little snoop on social media to see what everyone wore and and how they wore it! This year’s theme of exhibition was ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ and was supposedly the biggest exhibit the Met has put together! Every frock, gown and suit on the Red Carpet was spectacular, but who has landed a spot in my Best Dress list?

GET THE LOOK: Spring Makeup

Now that the gloomy days are over and spring time is finally here, the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of spring is not only the beautiful flowers that are beginning to bloom but all of the bright pastel colors that seem to appear everywhere from department stores to grocery stores. Like it or not, they’re everywhere and we cannot escape it but hopefully you won’t feel the need to escape this cute little makeup pictorial that I’ve got for you! Yes, I did incorporate a pop of color just to get into the spirit of Spring but you can use something different if you’d like (BOOOOOO!!! haha jk) However, I do highly suggest that you live a little and just add the pop of color, dammit! 😉 Anyways, here is a cute and simple look that anyone can rock during the day (minus the dramatic lashes) or at night. Let’s get started!

I used the Monarch Eyeshadow Palette by Kat Von D for this whole entire makeup look but you can use whatever you have. There are a ton of dupes for the colors in this palette so feel free and get creative!

photo 1 (2) photo 1 (3)

STEP 1: After applying an eyeshadow primer/base, apply a matte cream colored shadow onto the brow bone and blend it down towards the crease. I used the shade “Tiny Death.”

photo 1 photo 2 (3)

STEP 2: Apply a light brown shade into the crease. This shade will act as a “transition” shade to help blend all of the colors seamlessly. I used the shade “Killing Jar.”

photo 5 photo 3 (3)

STEP 3: Blend a warm medium orange brown shade onto the outer V and in towards the crease. Focus the color more onto the outer V. I used the shade “Deadhead.”

photo 2 photo 4 (3)

STEP 4: Apply a gold color onto the lid. I used the shade “Disintegration.”

photo 3 photo 5 (3)

STEP 5: Apply any eyeliner of your choice onto the bottom waterline and slightly onto the lash line. I chose this BEAUTIFUL turquoise eyeliner by Milani Liquid Eye in shade “04 Aqua.” After applying the eyeliner of your choice (a bright purple would be pretty as well) smudge it with either a pencil brush, your finger, or a cotton swab. Make sure that you work fast because this stuff dries quick and stays put for hours!

photo 4 photo 2 (4)

STEP 6: Curl your eyelashes and apply mascara.

photo 3 (4) photo 4 (4)

STEP 7: Apply eyeliner and false eyelashes (optional). I used my favorite KoKo eyelashes in “Goddess.”

And your look is complete! I hope you all enjoyed this simple makeup look with a nice pop of color. If I’m not mistaken, it kind of looks like an ocean sunset right? haha! The best part is that you can use any eyeliner or eyeshadow that you like with this look and it would still look awesome! Anyway, I hope you all give this look a try and #GoldSoulista so I can see how it turns out. Have a beautiful day everyone. Until next time, stay weird my friends =)

DIY: Scrunchy Bikini Bottoms

Spring time is finally here and the flowers are starting to bloom, the sky is getting a lot brighter, and life is getting that much better! But aside from that, another exciting thing that is rapidly approaching is… can you guess what it is? SPRING BREAK!!! Not only that but we can now toss our big sweaters, scarves, and boots to the side and put on some cute summer dresses, shorts, sandals, bikinis/swimwear, and huge floppy hats! Since the weather is getting warmer and most of us are probably going to spend our time at the beach or somewhere outdoors during spring break, there are some things that I like to consider bringing with me before I leave the house. Aside from all the essentials such as sunblock, sunglasses, a towel, and tanning oil, I like to make sure that I put on the proper bikini and I don’t mean just any bikini, I mean a bikini with scrunchy bottoms! Yep, those are my favs. Why do you ask? Simple. Because it makes my butt look FABULOUS! And who doesn’t want a nice butt? Exactly. What’s even better is that I found a quick and simple way to make these “scrunchy bottoms” by yourself with literally just a safety pin!!! So if your bikini bottoms are looking a little boring, try this trick to give them a little umph 😉

Here’s what you’ll need:

photo 1 (2) photo 2 (4)

A medium sized safety pin and bikini bottoms. I bought these cute coral ones from Walmart for only $5! photo 3

Step 1: If you have straps, untie them. If not, flip your bikini bottoms inside out. You might want to cut off the tag also to make your life easier haha

photo 1 (4) photo 4

Step 2: Start off with the back part facing you and the front of the bikini bottom facing the other way. Then, begin piercing the safety pin at the top center of the bikini bottom. Make sure that you are doing this on the inside of your bikini bottoms.

photo 3 (3) photo 1 (3)

Step 3: After piercing it, you should be on the outside of your bikini. Now take about half an inch and pierce it back inside the bikini. You’re basically weaving it into the needle.

photo 3 (2) photo 2 (5)

Step 4: Scrunch it and continue taking a half inch and weaving back and forth about 5-6 times. photo 4 (2) photo 5 (2)

Step 5: Secure the safety pin.

photo 2 (2) photo 2 (7)

And you’re done! This is how the back side should look like =) If this is not your cup of tea then have no fear because you can either undo some of the scrunch and make it less scrunchy or you can easily just remove the safety pin and it would look perfectly normal! For those of you that do like this type of bikini bottom, I hope this helped you and I hope you don’t forget to bring extra safety pins for you and your friends on your next trip. Have a fun and safe break everyone! Stay weird my friends =)

xoxo,

Jenn

How to: Fall in Love with Anyone after 1 Date

Female and man's hands with red heart

Yes, you read the title right! This will be a post about making anyone fall head over fucking red bottom heels in love with you. This isn’t a joke. It’s Friday and I’ve got something to share with you ladies and possibly ‘gents.

Friday is a great time to try out this interesting and proven to work quiz on a date or with someone of the opposite sex willing to. I read about this quiz from an article for The New York Times that was posted about a week and a half ago. The quiz below was originally crafted by a Mandy Len Carton in an essay “To Fall In Love With Someone, Do This“. The essay then refers back to a psychological study conducted exploring intimacy and how accelerating closeness within strangers or people who don’t know each other well can lead to love. Not to beat around the bush…it’s worked before! This is the real deal but it will only work if the two people are completely uninhibited and actually ask/answer all the questions. After getting down to number 36, afterwards the two are supposed to stare into each other’s eyes ranging for 2-4 minutes! Sounds like a load of bull, but it just so happened to work for Mandy. Who knows? It could work for you. Try this exercise on your next date or with that crush you finally managed to ask out…today is the perfect time to try.

THE QUIZ

SET 1 (it’s all in the name of fun)

1. Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?

2. Would you like to be famous? In what way?

3. Before making a telephone call, do you ever rehearse what you are going to say? Why?

4. What would constitute a “perfect” day for you?

5. When did you last sing to yourself? To someone else?

6. If you were able to live to the age of 90 and retain either the mind or body of a 30-year-old for the last 60 years of your life, which would you want?

7. Do you have a secret hunch about how you will die?

8. Name three things you and your partner appear to have in common.

9. For what in your life do you feel most grateful?

10. If you could change anything about the way you were raised, what would it be?

11. Take four minutes and tell your partner your life story in as much detail as possible.

12. If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?

SET 2 (Shit just got real!)

13. If a crystal ball could tell you the truth about yourself, your life, the future or anything else, what would you want to know?

14. Is there something that you’ve dreamed of doing for a long time? Why haven’t you done it?

15. What is the greatest accomplishment of your life?

16. What do you value most in a friendship?

17. What is your most treasured memory?

18. What is your most terrible memory?

19. If you knew that in one year you would die suddenly, would you change anything about the way you are now living? Why?

20. What does friendship mean to you?

21. What roles do love and affection play in your life?

22. Alternate sharing something you consider a positive characteristic of your partner. Share a total of five items.

23. How close and warm is your family? Do you feel your childhood was happier than most other people’s?

24. How do you feel about your relationship with your mother?

SET 3 (be honest…)

25. Make three true “we” statements each. For instance, “We are both in this room feeling … “

26. Complete this sentence: “I wish I had someone with whom I could share … “

27. If you were going to become a close friend with your partner, please share what would be important for him or her to know.

28. Tell your partner what you like about them; be very honest this time, saying things that you might not say to someone you’ve just met.

29. Share with your partner an embarrassing moment in your life.

30. When did you last cry in front of another person? By yourself?

31. Tell your partner something that you like about them already.

32. What, if anything, is too serious to be joked about?

33. If you were to die this evening with no opportunity to communicate with anyone, what would you most regret not having told someone? Why haven’t you told them yet?

34. Your house, containing everything you own, catches fire. After saving your loved ones and pets, you have time to safely make a final dash to save any one item. What would it be? Why?

35. Of all the people in your family, whose death would you find most disturbing? Why?

36. Share a personal problem and ask your partner’s advice on how he or she might handle it. Also, ask your partner to reflect back to you how you seem to be feeling about the problem you have chosen.

*After, stare into each other’s eyes for 2-4 minutes. (Seems freaking scary but hang in there)

I haven’t tried this out myself but I think I just might on my next date (hah, if that happens). I’ll let you know how it goes and please don’t hesitate to comment below if you decide to try this out too.

January is almost over which means 2015 is practically down one month. What are you waiting for to get fit? We all know that everyone’s New Years Resolutions lists have fallen by the waist side already but that doesn’t mean you should not try getting into shape. I know from personal experience that it’s super easy to become accustomed to lazy days consisting up binge watching tv shows, eating junk food and doing absolutely nothing when you don’t have to do anything. I love lazy days more than the next person but at some point it gets boring. Yes. This has happened to me. How, you ask, does being able to sleep in and do nothing all day get old? Well, I’ve started to notice that my ex-cheerleader body has begun to un-tone itself. And let’s face it, your twenties are when your metabolism begins to slow down ladies. Translation, it’s about damn time to at least muster up the time and courage to start a weekly workout schedule and learn to eat things other than fast food or Hot Cheetos.

It may be cold out since it’s still winter but Spring is right around the corner people!! Below are some links to Instagram accounts that you should follow ASAP! They have easy, at home exercises that you can do by yourself, with friends or with a significant lover 😉 Try them out, even for you lazy asses out there like me. I mean that with the sincerest love. Go Work Out! While you’ll be ready for Spring and Summer because of consistent exercise, everyone else will be rushing to get in shape at the last-minute or even wasting half their summers just getting “bikini ready”.

Sucks for them but, hey you’ll look hot.
