In this day and age, it’s easy to let life pass you by. It’s easy to be caught up in the next thing that needs to be done that we don’t stop to be in the moment.
So here’s your moment to pause life’s chaos for a few minutes and remember these seven things!
1. Drink more water
You already know that it’s super good for you! Drinking enough water has so many benefits like giving you healthy skin, gets rid of body toxins, boosts your energy, fights infection and more. Go and have a glass of chilled water right now!
2. Sleeping is good for you
Isn’t it just the best news you’ve heard in a while? Who knew taking naps would be so rewarding?
3. Your life doesn’t have to be documented on social media
Remember that you don’t have to update every one of your social media platforms. Instead of taking out your phone so often to update your status or to add to your Snapchat story, take in experiences and enjoy moments.
4. Being single doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you
It doesn’t mean anything is wrong with you. Remember that you’re just as brave, driven and fabulous. Own it, babe.
5. A lot can happen within the space of 10 minutes
Change is bound to happen, and it can happen in a small amount of time. So when you feel as if nothing is going your way, keep your head up and know that it can change within a few minutes.
6. It’s okay to cry every once in a while.
Let down your guard every once in a while because festering negative energy is bad news.
7. Hard work pays off
It’s all about having a goal to work towards. Have that incentive to work hard and to reach that goal of yours, and you’ll find out that hard work really does pay off.
We only want you to have good vibes all day, every day.
You can come back to this blog post every time you feel a little bit bummed out and in need of good energy kick! Here are a few things that you can keep yourself busy with to keep that energy flowin’!
Listen to some upbeat songs
Go all out and move to some beats. Get all hyped up with some bangers, whether you’re with your squad or by yourself!
Fuel up on some good food
Replace a greasy burger with some fruit and veg every once in a while. You definitely don’t have to stick to boring foods – make it interesting with colorful fruit, tasty salads and yummy flavors!
Do a quick, but intense workout
Nothing screams energized more than a fun and intense workout. Get pumped up by doing some jumping jacks or a quick sprint to get the heart pumping.
Get a quick massage
Treat yourself to a massage! You’ll find yourself hella relaxed and energized to take on the day.
Do Yoga in the morning
It’s the latest craze and we love anything that promotes good vibes. Wake up and feel motivated! Appreciate the life you live while stretching your beautiful bod in all the right places.
Are your lips ready to be kissed? Probably. But, you can never be too ready.
Pucker up with this lip scrub that only has THREE ingredients that you already have sitting in your kitchen. That’s not the best thing about this hella easy Lip Scrub DIY – it’s edible. Yep! It’s good enough to eat right off those luscious lips.
What you’ll need:
– 1 part Raw Sugar
– 1 part Honey
– 1 part Coconut Oil
– A small bowl
– A teaspoon for mixing
– A small container to put your goodness in
Depending on how much you want to make, put all 3 ingredients of even parts into your small bowl.
Mash and mix the concoction together with your teaspoon until it looks like a paste. I know, it’s not the most pretty thing you’ll ever make!
Transfer the mixture into your small container where you’ll store your lip scrub.
There you have it! Now rub the scrub onto clean lips in circular motions for 30 seconds. Wash off the excess or, you can lick it right off!
Yep, we wake up as we are and most of the time that’s like a very annoyed, half-human, half-zombie… creature. Basically, mornings just aren’t everyone’s forte. The good news is: that can change with a few alterations to our before and after sleep rituals. Here’s a few tips!
1. Go to bed before 12am
If you’re the type of person who has a habit of heading to bed at 3am, this might be hard to hear. One of the main reasons why people hate mornings is that they’re hella tired from the night before. Whether you spent the night talking to some guy or scrolling through 7 different online stores, of course you’re going to be tired if you only got 4 hours of sleep. For those nights when you don’t have to be up late, try getting your beauty sleep before midnight and you’ll wake surprisingly refreshed the next morning.
2. Ditch the late night Instagram check ups
Let’s all be honest – we all love to tuck ourselves up into bed and get comfortable with our phones in hand, right? We’re all guilty of it but it really is time to just not worry about social media as soon as we get comfortable in bed. Just rest your eyes and you’ll wake up the next morning ready to spend the rest of the day looking at your phone screen!
3. Morning stretches
Ahh, it’s the best thing about waking up – stretching your body after a nights sleep. Why not carry out those good feelings and roll out a yoga mat? You don’t need to have the flexibility of a contortionist, just look up some easy yoga moves and stretch out your body!
4. Look forward to Breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal of your day and you CAN’T miss it! It kicks off your day, so create a meal that gets you excited and energized for the entire day! A berry smoothie with fresh berries on top? Yes please. Pancakes on pancakes on pancakes? Go for it! Croissants smothered in Nutella? Why. The. Eff. Not?
January is almost over which means 2015 is practically down one month. What are you waiting for to get fit? We all know that everyone’s New Years Resolutions lists have fallen by the waist side already but that doesn’t mean you should not try getting into shape. I know from personal experience that it’s super easy to become accustomed to lazy days consisting up binge watching tv shows, eating junk food and doing absolutely nothing when you don’t have to do anything. I love lazy days more than the next person but at some point it gets boring. Yes. This has happened to me. How, you ask, does being able to sleep in and do nothing all day get old? Well, I’ve started to notice that my ex-cheerleader body has begun to un-tone itself. And let’s face it, your twenties are when your metabolism begins to slow down ladies. Translation, it’s about damn time to at least muster up the time and courage to start a weekly workout schedule and learn to eat things other than fast food or Hot Cheetos.
It may be cold out since it’s still winter but Spring is right around the corner people!! Below are some links to Instagram accounts that you should follow ASAP! They have easy, at home exercises that you can do by yourself, with friends or with a significant lover 😉 Try them out, even for you lazy asses out there like me. I mean that with the sincerest love. Go Work Out! While you’ll be ready for Spring and Summer because of consistent exercise, everyone else will be rushing to get in shape at the last-minute or even wasting half their summers just getting “bikini ready”.
Thank the lord it’s Friday..finally! I don’t know about you guys but I like the weekend. You can sleep in duh! Plus it’s the time you can go hang with your girls and relax after a long week’s worth of bills, worrying about the next move, work or guy drama. So to start this weekend off right let’s be positive and enjoy ourselves while we’re young. You only live once right? But that doesn’t mean to not take care of ourselves and our bodies.
If you haven’t read the last blog post, then go HERE and check it out for dope beats to soundtrack your life this weekend. (I know. A bit cheesy) Keep it PG for all minors ok! But the music will have you feeling some type of way until that dreadful Monday morning wake up call. In the mean time, IT”S FRIDAY!! (Drink at a healthy pace. No drinking and driving ladies and gents.)
1. Go Dancing
And no, I don’t mean go clubbing..which you can totally do, try something different and sign up for a fun hip hop dance class. This is a great way to get in shape and goof around at the same time. Dancing is a lot more cardio than you think. It’ll have you sweating in no time. You hardly even realize you’re working out. Trust me, I just took a hip hop class over this last weekend and fell in love. I found the exercise that will work for me! Classes tend to be pretty cheap as well. You can go alone or convince friends to tag along with you. Guilt them if you have to.(video from Janelle Ginestra’s channel)
2. Schedule an impromptu photo shoot with friends
Do you, a friend or someone you know have a camera? Then get a group together and organize a last-minute photo shoot. It’ll be fun and no one has to ever see these pictures if you don’t want. They will be fun to look at while at work for a quick laugh or to hold blackmail against a friend. Drinks can always be added. Insert evil laugh here
3. Go to a Drive-in Movie Theatre
I used to go see movies at drive-ins all of the time when I was younger. They are fun and you can make a cool trip out of them. You can take blankets, chairs and sneak snacks into the outside theaters (the concessions there are hella expensive lol) You also get to watch two movies for the price of one! Can’t beat that. This could be a chance to snuggle up close to a guy or girl you’ve been crushing on if you invite friends and make a group and make something special out of it. And if you don’t live close to one try making your own drive in. If you’re really lazy then just stay in and have a Netflix night, no harm in that either.
4. Throw a Pinterest Party!
If you’re like me then you have at least a dozen boards on Pinterest full of things you keep saying that you’ll try. Wether it’s the fitness board that you’ve added hundreds of pins to but haven’t started really looking at or that DIY crafts board that you were so excited about months ago, try them now. Right Now! This weekend with friends. Blast music while doing them and watch how much fun you’ll be having…you won’t even remember why you hadn’t tried this before. Add drinks if you want *wink wink
5. Iron Chef “Healthy version” contest…or not
Invite friends (guys, girls or both) for some fun and food! You can even make it into a battle of the sexes. Cook out of the items in your kitchen (make sure to stock up on food) or better yet have the friends bring some treats with them and get creative with the dishes. Try sticking to the healthier side if you can. Or at least drink water…or something else..
6. Go To an Open Mic Night/Karaoke Bar
Theres bound to be some sort of talent in your town. Or at the very least it’ll be a fun night filled with laughs. You can laugh and crack jokes at the people brave or drunk enough to get up and sing. Did I mention there’s usually no cover and drinks? It may turn out to be an unforgettable night.
7. Try a dating app/site
Ok, you guys and girls know you’ve wanted to try it but you haven’t because you think it’s too weird and only for “old people who can’t find someone”. You would be so wrong. You never really know until you try. There’s no harm in trying. There are some pretty cool ones out there such as:
Coffee meets Bagel
POF (plenty of fish)
Dating DNA free
…These are some of the cooler dating outlets to try opposed to regular meeting, dating, etc. Don’t knock it until you it. I’m currently trying out Tinder and I’ve tried OkCupid as well as C.M.B. before. Take a chance and none of your friends have to find out if you don’t want them to and feel that embarrassed about it. You aren’t the only ones having a hard time finding that special someone. Trust.
Have a great weekend and comment below telling about your weekends. #goldsoulla
