LOOK FORWARD TO: The Winter Morning Commute

It’s important to kick off your day in a positive mood.

There’s no need to dread those cold and early morning starts to your day. It’s time to make your mornings something to look forward to.

How? Here are a few little things that we suggest you include in your Winter morning commute.

There’s something so comforting about having a warm coffee cup in your hands. Every sip warms you up and warms the soul!

Listen to some chill new music
The winter morning commute gives you the perfect opportunity to discover new music. Who knows… maybe you’ll find a new favorite song to play on repeat?

Swap your phone scrolling with a book
Avoid reading on your phone screen so early in the morning. Your eyes won’t appreciate it and they’ll feel sore by the end of the day. Pick up a book instead and get lost in a story.

Bring out your favorite Winter accessories
Winter means winter fashion. It’s showing off the perfect coat that you’ve been dying to wear, it’s keeping your head warm with a beanie, it’s wrapping yourself in a scarf to keep cosy!

4 Steps Closer To Being A Morning Person

As Beyoncé says “I woke up like ‘dis”

Yep, we wake up as we are and most of the time that’s like a very annoyed, half-human, half-zombie… creature. Basically, mornings just aren’t everyone’s forte. The good news is: that can change with a few alterations to our before and after sleep rituals. Here’s a few tips!

1. Go to bed before 12am

If you’re the type of person who has a habit of heading to bed at 3am, this might be hard to hear. One of the main reasons why people hate mornings is that they’re hella tired from the night before. Whether you spent the night talking to some guy or scrolling through 7 different online stores, of course you’re going to be tired if you only got 4 hours of sleep. For those nights when you don’t have to be up late, try getting your beauty sleep before midnight and you’ll wake surprisingly refreshed the next morning.

2. Ditch the late night Instagram check ups

Let’s all be honest – we all love to tuck ourselves up into bed and get comfortable with our phones in hand, right? We’re all guilty of it but it really is time to just not worry about social media as soon as we get comfortable in bed. Just rest your eyes and you’ll wake up the next morning ready to spend the rest of the day looking at your phone screen!

3. Morning stretches

Ahh, it’s the best thing about waking up – stretching your body after a nights sleep. Why not carry out those good feelings and roll out a yoga mat? You don’t need to have the flexibility of a contortionist, just look up some easy yoga moves and stretch out your body!

4. Look forward to Breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of your day and you CAN’T miss it! It kicks off your day, so create a meal that gets you excited and energized for the entire day! A berry smoothie with fresh berries on top? Yes please. Pancakes on pancakes on pancakes? Go for it! Croissants smothered in Nutella? Why. The. Eff. Not?

DIY Print Mug

Coffee anyone? Or a cup of hot tea maybe? Whatever your drink, don’t drink it out of a boring old mug that you bought 10 years ago – it’s time to add a bit of fab. You can personalize these as much as you want – you can draw a little drawing, write on your favorite quote or lyric, do a fancy typography job… the possibilities are endless! These are an amazing gift idea for any coffee/tea lover and they’re so inexpensive! So go and get creative and start designing your new favorite mug.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED
– Plain Mug
– Paint Pen
– Oven

Pick out a design you want to put on your mug. Like I said, this could be anything! Don’t underestimate your creativity and think out of the box! Once you’ve finalized your design, you can go right ahead and start drawing with your paint pen. If your design involves covering a large area with color, consider using spray paint.
IMG_5680 IMG_5681Here’s where you can think outside of the box (or inside of the mug in this case!). Think of a design that you can apply to the inside or even at the bottom of the mug. The possibilities are endless!

Let the paint dry completely. This will take about an hour or two.
Once you’ve waited at least and hour, throw your mug into the oven (not literally of course) and bake it for 10 minutes at 350°F.
When 10 minutes is up, take the mug out of the oven, let it cool completely and rinse it with water.

When you’ve dried it, you’ve just made your very own printed mug. I think you’re allowed to celebrate with some wine in your new mug?
