FASHION TALK FRIDAY: Stripes or plaid?

Both are stylish and fashionable. Both are timeless and classic. They’re versatile and seriously everyone looks good in both prints. But, which do you prefer?

Are you more of a chic stripes wearer or an edgy plaid girl?

Photo from Instagram: @rubilove

All the Bloggers can’t get enough of both stripes and plaid because they give off that effortlessly casual chic look that we all want to embrace. Both are awesome to wear during any season, whether it’s Summer or Winter. So, which do you wear more?

Photo from Pinterest

The timeless stripes can be found in different styles, so you’re bound to find some sort of striped piece that you just love. The striped tee is one of the most versatile clothing staple that we all need in our wardrobe – guys and girls. Speaking of clothing that is both versatile and should be a wardrobe staple, stripes come in all different designs, so whether you’re more into button down’s, structured blazer’s or striped skirts, there’s something out there for you and your wardrobe.

Forget the misconception that horizontal stripes make you look ‘fat’. If you want to rock stripes, then do it. Do it and wear it with confidence!

Plaid will never go out of style. It’s been around forever and it’s not disappearing anytime soon. If you’re trying to achieve a laid-back and grungy look, or you’re channeling your inner fashion-forward school uniform, plaid will go perfectly.

It’s the perfect pop of pattern with any minimal outfit and, like stripes, comes in endless styles. A pleated skirt for a cute ‘girl power’ look paired with a plain tee and some chunky booties, or a light plaid coat simply paired with blue jeans, a white tee and strappy heels – you can’t go wrong with styling!

So… Have you decided on what you’re wearing today?

The Anti-Valentine’s Day Lookbook

So you don’t have that special person to spend Valentine’s Day with. Don’t let that stop you from going out and being a bad ass bitch because on February 14th, you’re no one’s babe. Get together with your fellow single buddies and get ready to celebrate being an individual bad bitch; pash a few people, dance like a maniac, take the shots and sing until you can’t sing anymore!

What to wear on such a special occasion? Obviously you need to rock up in an outfit that make them dumb boys weak at the knees, so I’ve got a few ideas for you. Here are 3 outfits that you can gain inspiration from… hopefully. What look is your favorite?

There’s something so powerful about a woman in white. If you’re brave, pair some white bottoms with a white top for an ensemble that will really shout ‘I’m a woman here to f*** things up’.

I chose to make this outfits’ color scheme most black because what other color says ‘I’m single and not ready to mingle’? Perfect if you’re feeling this vibe this Valentine’s Day.

Everyone knows that red is the universal color for love. Well, why not toughen up this anti-valentine’s day outfit by pairing a red playsuit with a denim jacket and a gold thigh chain. Sexy and edgy.

DIY Bomber Jacket

Stay out of the cold and rug up with this Bomber jacket made by the one and only, you. This little Do It Yourself project lets you be as original as you can possibly be and you get to look all cute and warm up when your done.

– A plain Jumper
– Scissors
– White chalk/pencil
– Pins
– A needle & thread OR a sewing machine
– Materials for your choice of decorations (optional)

STEP 1 Grab your jumper and fold it in half, marking the folded center with your chalk.

STEP 2 Unfold your jumper and flatten it out in front of you. With your scissors, follow and cut along your chalk line.

STEP 3 Using your pins, fold back about half an inch from where you cut.

STEP 4 Sew along the edge using a sewing machine or by hand

STEP 5 At this stage, you have the basic Bomber design down. Now it’s your choice if you want to carry on and decorate your Bomber or leave it the way it is.

STEP 6 Decorate as you please. You can use all kinds of cute shit – rhinestones, ribbon, patches, badges to name a few. I chose to do a bit of dainty embroidery on mine, so I drew my designs on with chalk first, then went ahead and began embroidering away.

So simple right? Make one for yourself, your sister, your brother; your Grandma would probably love one too.

So why don’t you go out and find a sweater and cut it up and bling it up? It’s ridiculously inexpensive, versatile and original! Get on to it babe!

Fashion Talk Friday: All About that MESH

mesh 1

Fashion Talk Friday is back! This time I wanted to talk about a trend that has been around for about a year but hasn’t been fully tamped into. More and more people have been wearing it. You guessed it…mesh!! This may seem like a trend that should have stayed behind back in the day but it’s one that has comeback with fierceness and will be sticking around from now on until most likely after this upcoming spring and summer seasons. I wouldn’t be surprised if you were to see mesh detailing, perforated mesh, play on textures and garments at highly anticipated fashion shows of New York Fashion week. The New York Fashion Week begins soon in February, don’t be caught out of the loop gals. This fabric is very versatile and can be incorporated in a lot of different clothing. Whether your working out, looking for a cute office outfit or going out with the girls you will be able to utilize this trend to your needs. If you thought this trend would only work for warmer whether you might have been right but then again fashion and style is all about pushing boundaries and now a days anything is possible with enough innovative thinking. This trend can and will work in winter weather as well. Don’t believe me? Keep reading to find out. Some ways you can wear it is by laying pieces underneath it, wearing big warm coats over it, or in a perforated style (thicker mesh). Rita Ora even posted to her Instagram these photos below about 8 months ago showing off her collaboration with Adidas with a mesh detailed  hoodie and sweats.

A lot of collections have featured mesh and plenty of celebrities have rocked looks with mesh pieces of clothing.

This look is here to stay, I would catch on to this and rock my ass off out doing all the other basic bitches out there. Even Queen B and her sis as seen below have rocked this trend along with the likes of fashionistas like Alexa Chung, Rita Ora, Bad girl “riri” Rihanna and the Jenner sisters. This trend is steppin up…so why don’t you too?

This white two piece ensemble is so perf! Gotta love the chic perforated mesh detailing.

Everyone remembers last year when Rihanna went to Paris Fashion week. She definitely helped build the mesh trend and caused a scene in this top with no bra underneath. Are you willing to try the daring look out? …or maybe stick with a bralette under.

Rita Ora looks stunningly hardcore in this completely mesh skirt. Can you say DAMNNN?!

Screen Shot 2015-01-01 at 10.57.29 amWho wants the most on point and on trend nails to start the year? You, obviously. It’s time to get those nails all glammed up with some lovin’ because you deserve it. What you need– A shallow cup of water
– 2 nail varnish colors (your choice)
– Clear Top Coat
– Nail Polish remover
– A few Cotton Pads
– Toothpicks

Untitled-1STEP 1 Start off with fresh nails. Cut and clean how you like it.

Untitled-4STEP 2 Pour your two nail varnish colors into the water.

Untitled-5STEP 3 Using a toothpick, mix up the nail colors together in a swirling motion.

Untitled-6STEP 4 Dip your fingernail into the water face down, making sure your whole nail touches the nail varnish. Do the same for every nail.

Untitled-7What did I say? Very, very messy.

STEP 5 Let your nails dry for at least 2-3 hours.

Untitled-8STEP 6 Remove the excess nail varnish that ended up on your skin with the Nail Polish remover and Cotton Pads.

Untitled-9STEP 7 Put on 2 coats of your Clear Top Coat.

Bitchin’ new nails for a bad gal like you. With a nail look as good as this, those claws need even more lovin’. Treat yourself to some new cute as f**k bling from Gold Soul to seriously turn heads and drop jaws.
